Cornell Returns 'Stolen' Tablets to Iraq

LA Times 2013

Yet another controversy consumes recovered ancient art. Antiquities collector Jonathan Rosen began donating and lending close to 10,000 clay blocks from the 4th Millenium BC to offer scholars a chance to understand daily life in ancient Mesopotamia. Despite their access to such important information, Scholars at Cornell were unhappy with the arrangement, suspecting the tablets were looted after the 1991 Gulf War.    After investigation by the department of homeland security, it was revelaed the tablets were in fact wrongfully taken. Now the tablets are being returned to their home in Iraq. To read more about the fiasco click here. Cornell Returns Tablets to Iraq
